Numbers in my life

Apart from reading Johann Heyss' book, which concentrates on the analysis of the numbers of a person's birth date and name, I started an analysis of other numbers in my life as well.  Here are the numbers in my life I analysed between May and September 2001. For obvious reasons I do not show the actual account numbers here. [2] Sceptics will argue that I deliberately chose these numbers and ignored others, because there are indeed many other numbers in my life (like the size of my shoes! [3] ), which I did not analyse during this time. I am not trying to prove any statistical significance of these numbers. (There are other coincidences I will discuss later, which are really much more significant from a statistical point of view - just read on!) So, I am sharing here my experience, the process I went through: these were the numbers I analysed during this time and there seems to be a specific trend in them that was hard to ignore at the time.

From the time that this trend became evident to me, inner tension mounted more and more as I regularly thought about new numbers to analyse, and every time they reduced to a 6, 9 or 11. During this time I performed every Saturday morning in a shopping centre around Johannesburg and Pretoria. Time and again my best CD sales amounted to the following numbers (with their reductions in brackets): 83(11), 74(11), 65(11), 45(9), 42(6), 42(6). After a while it became a standard joke between our salesman and myself to see whether this trend would continue. Many times we would finish playing and after the final count my total for the day would be one or two CDs short of a number, which could be reduced to 6, 9 or 11. And every time this happened, somebody would walk up to us, just as we were about to leave and bought the "missing" CD, which allowed the trend to continue. It seemed to me that I was somehow able to metaphysically influence the outcome of my sales totals, as if every person who bought a CD was "meant to" and "drawn to" buy one in order for this trend to continue.

I also looked at obvious numbers in the country and the city I live in:

I was made aware of the following set of numbers some years ago by a very concerned listener of Radio Suid-Afrika [5] , the biggest Afrikaans radio station, shortly after the flag of the "new" South Africa was designed. He called in and claimed that the new flag is the flag of the Antichrist! :) The moderator of the program also had a bit of a laugh after he cut the call short.

[2] If at some stage these account numbers become obsolete I will publish them. Until then you are welcome to visit me and see them for yourself!

[3] Oh my. come to think of it now: my shoe size is 245cm! It's an 11!! This is really becoming freaky! :)

[4] Okay, you've got me here - I deliberately left out the "GP" at the end of all Gauteng Province registration numbers - these ones are unique to my car.

[5] Today called: Radio sonder Grense - "radio without borders". I did an interview about my music in September 2003 for the conservative Afrikaans station, Radio Pretoria, who dubbed themselves: Radio met Grense - "radio with borders".
